Q. What is a SketchaJournal?
A. SketchaJournal is a sketchbook and notebook
merged into one. This format encourages you to incorporate sketches, diagrams,
and photos into your journaling practice; supports both right-brain (creative,
emotional, big-picture) and left-brain (analytical, logical, detail oriented)
thinking; and brings more balance and clarity to your thoughts and ideas.
Q. The why, how and who of using a SketchaJournal?
A. Why would you want to use a sketchajournal? Using a SketchaJournal will save you time and energy.
How and who would use it? The possibilities are endless so I have so I started a list to jumpstart your ideas of creative usages. Please contact me with additional ideas and I will add them to the list.
- Entrepreneurs who are build their business. Create a mind map on the blank page and write the details of your vision on the lined pages
- Camps settings (day, residential, summer, spring and winter), Out of School Care and schools (public, private and home school, Montessori). Have your participants stop during their day to sketch the surroundings around them. Then have them write about their day, thoughts or feelings. Benefits? This will help parents in their conversations with their children. Instead of the dreaded answer ot the question “What did you do today?” Answer “Nothing”. Children will be able to visually recall how they spend their day and describe their thoughts and feelings more accurate and authentic.
- Moms. Do you feeling like your kids are growing up too fast and that you can’t remember what happened last week? This is your chance to capture the moment. Print out your photo’s in mini prints and write about your children’s day. This will make a great keepsake that you can give to your children as well as remember days gone by.
- Christians. Use the SketchaJournal for the Christian Heart to sketch some scripture readings then write how you will implement the scripture in your current journey.
- Depressed of Grieving. Use the SketchaJournal for Transitions to draw about your loss and write about steps that you can take to build in hope for your day.

- Like Adventure? Doing a road trip or trip to overseas. Don’t forget your adventures. Print your pictures and write in the SketkchaJournal while you are still on the road.
Q. How do I book a workshop?
You have two options to book a workshop. One is as an individual at select courses through out the year open to the public. These are typically offered through Adult Continuing Education. You can find details on my Google calendar under the workshop tab. The second options is to do a group booking. Phone 604-880-7394 or contact me through the contact page with some of your details. Group sized, tentative dates, topic, and length of presentation. I can then offer you a preliminary quote.
Q. What makes a SketchaJournal different then a regular notebook or sketchbook?
SketchaJournals are designed with both blank and
lined pages so you can quickly and easily move back and forth between right and
left-brain thinking.
Q. I am busy and don’t have the time to journal. What can I do?
The great thing about journaling is that you can
customize your journaling tools according to the time you have. Journaling can
be as brief as one word a day. You benefit from journaling when you review what
you’ve written to gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, goals, and
ambitions.
Q. What is the difference between a diary and a journal?
A diary might be used more often to recount the
day. A journal is a practical tool that can offer insight into your thoughts
and provide a personal map of the action steps needed to make a change. There
are specific journaling tools to help you focus on different areas of your
life. One tool may help you focus on your future, where others might help heal
a painful past, clarify goals, or expand your creativity.
